Ask you Skincare Nurse Specialist about this amazing moisturizing cream!

As skin ages we begin to see thinning, wrinkled skin, loss of volume, hyperpigmentation, and a loss of elasticity. Chronic UV exposure leads to increased degenerative changes in the skin characterized by alterations in the ECM (extra cellular matrix) including collagen and elastin degradation and increased free radical damage to skin cells. In addition to thin, wrinkled skin, aging skin is often severely dehydrated with a compromised skin barrier. mybody offers the ultimate anti-aging hydrator which not only corrects and protects a compromised skin barrier but also helps to stimulate skin immunity and reduce the signs of aging.

myHERO™ Ultra Rich Anti-Aging Growth Factor Cream
This intensive bioactive moisturizing cream with transformative biomimetic growth factor peptides helps correct and protect a compromised skin barrier. Redness is also reduced to visibly bring youth, vitality and radiance to dry, aging and sensitive skin. Cutting edge ingredients, such as TGF-β (Tissue Growth Factor), mimic the body’s own mechanism to produce collagen and bypass inflammation. Probiotic Derived Bioactives also help stimulate collagen production while increasing skin immunity. Revinage® is a multi-functional, clinically-proven ingredient with a retinoid-like effect. myHERO Ultra Rich Anti-Aging Growth Factor Cream also includes lightening, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects while providing intense hydrating ingredients that make this the ultimate bioactive moisturizing cream for mature, aging, and excessively dry and sensitive skin.

1. CLEAN ROUTINE® Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser (AM/PM)
2. myHERO™ Anti-Aging Growth Factor Serum (AM/PM)
3. *myHERO™ Anti-Aging Growth Factor Daytime Lotion (AM)
4. PROTECT & SERVE® Tinted Sun Shield SPF 30 (AM)

Water and Healthy Skin

Heather Woods, skincare, Uncategorized Comments Off

Did you know that drinking the recommended daily amount of water can improve your skin and make you look younger?  Well the proof is in the pudding. A 42 year old woman from the UK, Sarah, documented her transformation for 4 weeks to prove that consuming 3 liters a day of water DOES improve your skin while also taking years off your appearance.

So what prompted the experiment? As a chronic headache sufferer Sarah went to see her neurologist for some advice. During this appointment Sarah was informed that she needed to increase her daily consumption of water.  Headaches are often a result from dehydration due to the fact that the body’s organs try to make up for a lack of water by stealing it from the brain.

After 4 weeks of ingesting 3 liters a day of water Sarah noticed a dramatic difference in her appearance. On her face she noticed that the lines and shadows around her eyes were less pronounced.  Her skin was plumper and looked well nourished. The patchy spots she once had were no longer visible.  Not only did her face undergo changes but so did her  body, said Sarah.  She states ” I’m feeling leaner and fitter too, which is amazing since the only thing I have changed is the amount of water I drink.”

Please view the article attached to see the photos of Sarah’s drastic transformation.

What Ingredients Are In Your Sunscreen?

Chris Klueh, Sunblock Comments Off

We all know the importance of using an SPF when we hit the beach, relax by the pool or perform as a weekend warrior in the great outdoors. However, do you know what ingredients to look for in your lotions in order to get the best UV protection?

Two key ingredients to look for that will provide you with the greatest protection is zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Both of these ingredients are physical properties and act in a way in which they reflect the UVA and UVB rays off the skin.  Think of the UV rays bouncing off the skin’s surface like jumping on a trampoline.

Not only do these 2 ingredients protect, but the true beauty of zinc and titanium is that they can be used on all skin types – from acne prone to the very sensitive and compromised types. These ingredients are extremely heat tolerant and do not break down as quickly as chemicals do when the temperature rises outside. Finally, zinc and titanium will not sting your eyes when you are active and trying to get your sweat on!

Remember the days when the lifeguards at the pool had their noses covered in that heavy white cream? Thank goodness for modern technology!! Now we can all wear zinc and titanium, be protected AND look good at the same time! No more white faces!

At Pellé Medical Skincare, all of our UV protectants have zinc, titanium or a combination of both in them. Whether you are broken out or have dry, sensitive skin, we have a sunscreen for you. Come on in and check them out!

Sugar and Wrinkles

Heather Woods, iS Clinical, Société, wrinkles Comments Off

Has anyone ever told you that ingesting sugars and starches can cause wrinkles?  Well it can, by a process called GLYCATION.  Glycation is the process by which sugar molecules attach onto proteins and fats forming Advanced Glycation End Products commonly referred to as AGE’s.  When glycation takes place it causes protein fibers in the skin to become stiff and malformed. The proteins in the skin most affected are collagen and elastin. These are the proteins responsible for giving us a youthful complexion.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone states “Eating sugary and starchy foods shows up on the skin as a loss of radiance, dark circles under the eyes, the loss of tone, puffiness, and increase in fine lines and wrinkles, the loss of facial contours and increased pore size.  These foods can also exacerbate acne, which is a systemic inflammatory disease.  I am not exaggerating when I say that sugar can rob you of your youth, health, and beauty.”

Signs of glycation usually start to appear in our 30’s. At age 30 we aren’t producing the collagen we were when we were young.  So what can be done to help slow down the aging process?  The best thing to do is the change up your diet. Try to stay away from sugary foods and refined carbohydrates. Examples of food to avoid are processed foods, cereals, soda and anything with high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup increases the rate of glycation by 10X compared to glucose.

The second thing you can do to is to invest in skincare products that contain ingredients proven to help fight glycation or stimulate the production of collagen. Green tea is just one potent ingredient proven to significantly interfere with the glycation process. Drinking green tea can also be beneficial.

Pellé Medical Skincare does offer a wide variety of products aimed at fighting glycation and producing collagen. The Intense Firm by Société contains 7 protein peptides aimed at producing collagen and increasing elasticity and firmness. It also contains the powerful antioxidant green tea. From the iS Clinical line, Youth Complex has been clinically proven to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. It contains a copper tripeptide growth factor that mimics the way skin naturally produces collagen.

What You Need to Know About Serums

acne, Sale, serums, skincare, wrinkles Comments Off

Serums are a top pick of many skin care gurus because they are formulated to target specific skin issues. Whether you want to reduce fine lines, smooth fine lines, reduce dark spots, prevent acne or brighten up your skin, serums come in a variety of formulas.

The best part about serums is that most of the fluid is eliminated — what’s left is a high concentration of active ingredients. Serums are loaded with the most potent dose of anti-aging ingredients — antioxidants, peptides and skin brighteners you can find on the market.

Many serums are packaged in pump bottles or have medicine-dropper applicators to dispense just the tiny amount you need. Those few concentrated drops have the ability to penetrate deep within the layers of your skin so that you get phenomenal results!

Additionally, serums tend to be a patient favorite as they have a non-greasy finish and they don’t leave behind a sticky residue. To find the serum that is best for your skin — schedule an appointment with your Nurse Skincare Specialist at Pellé.

Acne and Adult Acne Q&A

acne Comments Off

Is teenage acne different from adult acne?
Yes and no. When dirt, excess oil and dead cells mingle, they plug the openings of your pores. Although this pore-clogging process is the same whether you’re 13 or 35, adult acne pops up in different places than the teen kind. It typically appears on the jawline, chin and neck, as opposed to the forehead, cheeks and nose with teens.

Is adult acne an actual problem for many women?
Absolutely! Grown-up women are not only fending off wrinkles, but studies show they’re battling zits too. Fortunately, you don’t have to feel as if you’re 30 going on 13! Pellé Medical Skin Care offers several individualized peels to treat adult acne.

Does Pellé have products for home use and is education provided?
Yes. You could call it, Pimple-Busting Protocol. First, Pellé’s skincare nurses’ consult about your skin issues. Education is key. Everything from stress, to hormonal and weather changes and of course genetics is discussed. The medical grade products that are suggested are all pH balanced for an effective skincare regiment. The pH is of the upmost importance and the only way acne can be treated and kept under control. OTC (over the counter) products are either to drying, irritating or cause additional problems.
Retin-A or a Retinol are state of the art in treating acne. Pelle carry’s all three strengths, and retinols for more sensitive skin. These Renoic acids, or Vitamin A products help unplug follicles, keep the pores clear, the skin exfoliated and HELP with wrinkles! Oral anti-biotics taken for short durations can be prescribed for cyclic, cystic acne, and are very effective when combined with topical acne products.

In conclusion adult acne is not something you have to face on your own. Take the first step and schedule an appointment today with a Pelle skincare nurse. Discover how healthy and beautiful your skin can look and feel!

Aging Skin

Chris Klueh, skincare Comments Off

One morning it happens. You’re looking in the mirror, and you suddenly realize that the deepening wrinkles, red spots and drooping skin are signs that you are aging. That’s right, you’re getting old!

If you find yourself asking, “What can I do?” Pellé Medical Skin Care, owned and operated by two medical skin care nurses who have over 35 years combined experience in the industry, is the answer. A third skin care nurse was brought into the clinic a year and a half ago. Pellé, and not the local spa, salon or nearest department store, is the right choice for aging skin because medical grade skin care and peels work deep below the epidermis (top or first layer of skin) to hydrate, boost cell turnover, stimulate collagen growth and banish DNA-damaging free radicals.

Medical grade products do all of these wonderful things for our skin because they contain more active ingredients then over-the-counter (OTC) products do. Take for example: sunscreen versus sunblock. Unlike UVB light, UVA rays travel through windows in the office, home and car. Studies have shown that UVA is carcinogenic and induces the grayish, yellow-y tone seen in older people’s skin. Pellé sunblock contains zinc oxide, or titanium dioxide, that deflects UVA rays. Our physical block is great because it also serves as a moisturizer in the morning. There are a host of products for treating the most sensitive (rosacea type skin) to acneic, hyper-pigmented, and of course environmentally damaged skin.

Other products at Pellé are Vitamin C Serum, Retin-A, Retinols for those who cannot tolerate Retin-A, prescription hydroquinone for skin lightening and incredible cleansers, toners, moisturizers, exfoliators, masks and serums that pack a lot of anti-aging punch, and deliver both instant and long term results.

So call Pellé today for your consultation and let us show you how you can have a more gorgeous, glowing, and healthy look

Psoriasis is a disorder of the immune system that causes skin redness and irritation. Most people with psoriasis have thick, red skin with flakey silver-white patches called scales. It is a persistent and chronic skin disease. The patient’s skin cells are turning over at a very rapid pace, every 4-5 days, causing this build-up of skin, which manifests itself in the form of unsightly and embarrassing dermatologic splotches.

Psoriasis can begin at any age, from infancy through the golden years. About 75% develop psoriasis before they turn forty. Psoriasis is not contagious. You cannot get this disorder from touching someone or even swimming in the same pool. Psoriasis is a complex genetic skin disorder and scientists have found that everyone who inherits the gene for psoriasis gets psoriasis.

If you think you have psoriasis, please seek the help of a dermatologist. Spas and other non-medical settings are not the right places to seek effective therapy for your skin. Board-certified dermatologists have the medical training and experience needed to determine the most appropriate treatments for each patient.
